Reese Pharmaceutical employs nine members of the Cleveland United Celebral Palsy (UCP) chapter as production workers.

Called, “a real win-win situation” for both the organization and United Cerebral Palsy, Cleveland-based Reese Pharmaceutical Company employs nine members of the Cleveland chapter of UCP at its inner city production facility on Frank Avenue. The program began in late 2006 when UCP provided Reese with a production team that was displaced when a nearby manufacturer ceased operations.

After a seamless integration, an initial group of five began working in the Reese production department. Another staffing opportunity presented itself in the fall of 2007 and the group grew to its current number of nine.

Primarily employed to handle the repetitive production pack-out process, the team also provides a preliminary level of quality control product inspection in addition to the regular QC procedures that are handled by the quality control staff. The current team consists of two women and seven men, each working a 27-1/2 hour week.

When asked to comment on the program, company president George Reese said, “We realize there are many in this world that are less fortunate than us and are faced with uncertain futures as a result of physical disabilities. We work with the Cleveland chapter of UCP to employ a team of special needs individuals, providing them with an opportunity to earn wages—performing real jobs—in our production department. This program provides these remarkable individuals with a sense of self worth, helping them set goals they can strive for each and every working day. These programs are a good start—but only a start. I hope we will continue to add additional programs to return even more of our blessings back to those in the community that have a greater need than us.”
